Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) are non-citizens legally permitted to live permanently in the United States. In 2018, 1,096,611 persons were granted refugee LPR status in the United States. North America and Asia are the main regions of birth of these green card beneficiaries, with 38% and 36% of new LPRs in 2018.
